Canyon de Chelly had been on my bucket list for so long. To be here painting in the heart of Navajo Nation, where so many artists — Payne, in particular — have cut their teeth trying to capture the grandeur of this remarkable place, was a dream come true. We planned on two days, and stayed for five.
I am in awe of this canyon and immensely grateful to the Navajo people who run it, live in it, let us enjoy it, and continue to steward it.
